Last night, at a baby shower, we were telling stories of funny things that happened during our labor/delivery, or funny prenancy or "mommy" stories. I hadn't thought of this in a long time, and even retelling it, made me laugh so hard I almost cried. I think I was a little embarrassed, but it was so funny to me. I had to write it down so that I wouldn't forget again.
When RC was only 6 months old, he had to get on a preventative prescription because he had been exposed to another child who had whooping cough. Once we got the prescription filled, I was reading all of the information for it, and noticed that "if you are breastfeeding, do not take this medication." So, I immediately called RC's pediatrician and told the nurse that RC was a breast-fed baby and should he be taking that medication?!
It took me a while to realize my mistake, and it even took the nurse asking me, "Now, who is taking the medication?" Duh! RC was a breast-fed baby, but HE wasn't doing the breast-feeding!! And I certainly wasn't the one taking the medication. Oh, dear. I hope the nurses got a good laugh out of that one!

It was the first day of first grade
RC was so excited to go to school today that he got up on the first call, jumped out of bed, and immediately wanted to get dressed in his uniform. When he was eating his breakfast, I brought Kyle to the table, and he said to him, “Kyle, Bubba’s going to school today, and I get to wear a uniform!”
I wanted to get a picture of him, and this year I wanted to take it at the school in front of the sign, so I asked RC, “I would like to take your picture once we get to the school in front of the sign. Would that be ok with you?” He said, “Mom, I think that would be a little embarrassing. Why don’t you just take it now?” So we took some nice ones by the tree…
Once we got to the school, he was ready to go on ahead of me to class, but he got ½ way and came back and wanted to hold my hand. But, when we got to his classroom, the teacher did not want parents to come in. So he walked in and didn’t even look back when I said, “Bye, Son, have a good day!” Me and Kyle miss him already, but I’ll be he’s having a blast!

We and our RC
I found this today - was wondering if it was even still out there... Back before the word "blog" was a buzzword...my friends created this easyjournal site for me and I used to journal our life with our first born son, RC. The last entry was October of 2004 - but there is a lot of fun stories on there! http://weandourrc.easyjournal.com/
So, I was inspired to create a blog especially for RC. This will be his space, and maybe soon he will start journalling on his own!

Daddy & RC, April 2006
The text says: What is a Boy? Trust with dirt on its face; Beauty with a cut on its finger, Wisdom with bubble gum in its hair; and the hope of the future with a frog in its pocket. by Alan Mashall Beck. The scripture is: "How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called the children of God!" 1 John 3:1, NIV
